Richard has always had a lifelong passion for nature with particular interest in animals and their anatomical integrity.
Richard grew up on the Yorkshire Wolds and has drawn particular inspiration from this local area intertwining it into his artistic efforts.
He has been an enthusiastic artist from a young age and sampled many different mediums. His earliest efforts in sculpture were tin foil foxes made from chocolate wrappers; these creations were popular among school friends, and were regularly swapped for essential commodities such as extra chocolate.
In more recent years, he discovered wire sculpture which compliments his style. The open wire design helps capture the light and energy within the piece and also affords the sculptures unique visual variations depending on the light conditions in which they are situated.
Richard takes great pride in producing quality works that accurately reflect the subject matter, the majority of the art is actual life sized to further enhance the natural character of the piece.
